Begin Your Yoga Journey at Home

Small Tips for Beginners

Two months ago, I decided to dive into yoga by planning my daily routine. Time is valuable; thus, planning is crucial for developing the discipline needed for yoga.

As a working parent, my time is limited. Instead of wishing for more time, I focused on finding ways to practice yoga daily. It’s essential to focus on solutions rather than obstacles.

I realized morning was the best time for my practice before daily commitments. While specialized studios are ideal, not everyone has access to one. So, I dedicated 20 to 30 minutes every morning to yoga. After a week, this routine became an exciting habit.

Yor Home – Perfect Yoga Spot

Choose a comfortable spot at home for yoga, with just enough space for your mat. I found my perfect yoga spot at my living room. You’ll need the mat, comfortable clothing, and water. Optional accessories like candles and flowers can enhance your space. I remember the joy and pride of buying my first quality yoga mat, feeling I’d made a great investment in myself. Though the mat belongs on the ground, carrying it on my shoulder felt invigorating.

Along with planning, I started learning the basics of asanas. There’s plenty of information online and in books since yoga is a complex science. I naturally chose my first asanas by reading and understanding where to begin. Though tempted to try everything, it’s best to master simpler asanas based on your physicality and flexibility before advancing. Practice yoga calmly, focusing on your body’s sensations to avoid injuries and fully benefit from yoga.

Once you have the essentials—a mat, clothing, and a designated space—you can start practicing yoga. Begin with the easiest, most basic asanas, as they form the foundation for more complex combinations later.

I can’t imagine starting my day without my morning yoga session; my body and mind are now attuned to it, and the benefits are irreplaceable.

Yout Own Routine

When possible, I also practice yoga in the evening, but as a single working mother, I often find it more realistic to meditate at night. Meditation is a crucial aspect of yoga to master, helping reduce stress and enhance focus. For me, it’s a personal experience rooted in inner understanding that anyone can access with desire and intention.

Setting goals is essential when starting yoga. It allows you to track progress and achieve milestones. I aim to incorporate at least two new asanas each week alongside those I’ve mastered, which enriches my experience and brings me great joy. I am highly motivated to build my yoga beat flow.
