Cat-Cow pose: Lovely pose to do Yoga practice at Home
Hello, dear people!
Today, I want to share with you one of my favorite yoga poses — Cat-Cow, which I consistently include in my daily practice. For me, spinal movement is extremely important, especially after titanium implants were placed over 18 years ago to prevent the loss of mobility in my leg. The implants are located at the level of the vertebrae near the tailbone, leading to some stiffness and limited movement in this area. However, with the practice of yoga, and especially the Cat-Cow pose, I’ve noticed a significant difference in just two months — a difference I never believed I could achieve.
The Cat-Cow pose is known for its simplicity and effectiveness and is an excellent way to mobilize the spine. This pose combines two main movements: the Cow Pose, where I let my belly drop down, and the Cat Pose, where I arch my spine upwards. Alternating between the two allows me to connect with my body and pay attention to the spine’s movement. I feel that this approach not only enhances mobility but also releases muscle tension.
Cat-Cow Pose is not only easy to perform but also offers numerous benefits that can improve physical and mental well-being. No matter if you are new to yoga or experienced, this pose is beneficial and adaptable for all levels.
How to Perform Cat-Cow Pose (Marjaryasana Bitilasana)
Start on all fours: I am placing my palms under my shoulders and knees under my hips. It is important to feel your back neutral.
Cow Pose: When you inhale, open your chest and look up, allowing your belly to drop down. This position stimulates the front of the body and helps you feel open.

Cat Pose: As you exhale, arch your back upwards and drop your head down. Aim to activate the muscles and release accumulated tension.

Repeat: Alternate between the two positions, synchronizing movements with your breath: inhale in Cow and exhale in Cat. Perform 5-10 repetitions and enjoy the feeling of flexibility that gradually develops in the spine.
