Beginner’s Yoga on the Go: A Continuous Journey
From the Sunlit Shores of Greece to the Vibrant Streets of London
Spending a few days on the enchanting island of Rhodes invigorated me immensely. In just three days, I felt as though I had experienced a full week of bliss. The island’s charm captivated me, and I already know I’ll return for more.
After this sunny escapade, I turned my attention to the vibrant buzz of London. I had bought my tickets ages ago, yet true to form, I made no concrete plans. Even as departure loomed, I pondered whether to embark on this new adventure. Greece had been a spontaneous delight, leading to back-to-back weekends of travel. What could be more exciting?
With my suitcase almost packed from my previous journey, the decision was simple. I just needed to find a cozy place to stay in London. And just like that, I prepared for the next chapter of my wanderlust journey.
Exploring London: My Adventure from Stansted to Chelsea
After landing at Stansted Airport, I kicked off my London adventure with a seamless express train ride to Liverpool Street. The convenience set a promising tone for what lay ahead. My first mission was to find my accommodation in the bustling city.
I chose a cozy spot in the charming Chelsea neighborhood. Although I had visited London once before, the city’s layout still perplexed me. Navigating unfamiliar areas proved challenging, as I am famously prone to getting lost—orientation is definitely not my strong suit.
With some guidance from a friend, I successfully navigated the London Underground and arrived at my destination. And so began another unforgettable chapter in my London travels.
The Unexpected Corners of London
Upon arriving in a quiet neighborhood, I marveled at the eerily empty streets, a stark contrast to the bustling metro I had just left behind. My destination was a large building with a reception area, marking a promising start to my stay. However, as I followed my host’s instructions, I ventured into what seemed like an endless corridor, reminiscent of a thriller movie scene.
I eventually reached my accommodation—a tiny room equipped with just a bed, a mini kitchenette, and a bathroom. Imagining a stay beyond one night felt daunting, but I embraced the situation with humor. After all, I was in London and needed some rest.
A slight concern lingered: the lack of space would hinder my morning yoga routine. The room lacked the inviting atmosphere I hoped for, yet I remained determined to keep up with my practice. Missing a day was never an option.
A Slice of London’s Streets
The next morning, a friend helped me find a new place to stay. I hurried out of the tiny room and jumped back onto the metro, this time landing in Canary Wharf. I felt pleasantly surprised by the area, where modern buildings meet a sense of tranquility right by the docks. The sight of water always calms me.
I wandered through Hyde Park, a massive expanse filled with people from all walks of life. The large open spaces beckon for yoga and any other activities you might enjoy on a sunny lawn. I thought to myself, if only I had a yoga mat! I would love to indulge in a practice right there in Hyde Park.
Charming Tower Hamlets and My Outdoor Yoga Plans
By the way, I discovered that many excellent travel yoga mats are available. I plan to grab one so I can be fully prepared for outdoor yoga during my next trip.

After my lovely walk, I made my way to my hotel in Tower Hamlets. This charming area lies close to the City, the Tower of London, and London Bridge. I enjoyed a long stroll and noticed lines of eager diners outside many restaurants. Yes, it was Saturday evening, but that scene doesn’t quite happen here in Sofia. Still, London shines as a cosmopolitan city, and I appreciate the unique charm of each place.


Finding Peace: Yoga in My Hotel Room
This hotel provided plenty of space in my room, which instantly set a positive tone for my stay. After a refreshing rest, I discovered the perfect spot for a little yoga practice. One wall featured a frosted window with a cozy seating area, creating a lovely ambiance for my session. It felt wonderful to unwind and reconnect with myself in such a beautiful space.
My Yoga Practice: Finding Balance and Energy
I managed to relax and perform the poses I practice to improve my skills. While I still have room for growth, I make sure to maintain my daily practice, no matter where I find myself.

After starting with Easy Pose (Sukhasana), I transitioned into a Side Stretch to warm up my lower back and open my chest and shoulders.


Next, I flowed into Cat-Cow Pose (Chakravakasana), my favorite pose. Not only does it stretch my spine—an essential part of my routine—but it also slows my breathing and calms the energy flow throughout my body. This pose truly helps me find balance.

To give my muscles and joints a break, I included Hare Pose (Shashankasana) in my practice. This pose allows me to unwind and offers my entire body a moment of relaxation.

I always incorporate Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) as well. This powerful pose stretches my thighs, calves, and glutes while boosting blood flow to my head. It’s a strong pose packed with benefits for my entire body and its organs.

I found the perfect spot where my height matched the wall for some stretching. Using the wall was both fun and practical. I leveraged my own furniture for support, balancing gracefully while feeling grounded.

I concluded my yoga flow with Extended Puppy Pose (Uttana Shishosana). For me, this pose combines relaxation and stretching. My breathing slows down again, allowing my muscles and joints to release tension. As a 44-year-old woman, I can personally attest to this pose’s ability to enhance sexual pleasure and satisfaction.

A fulfilling sexual life plays an important role in every woman’s life, especially after 40. Maintaining a regular sexual life helps delay menopause and contributes to high energy levels. I don’t claim it’s the only solution, but it certainly offers benefits. Flexibility and mobility become crucial as we age. Caring for our bodies remains essential for a longer, higher-quality life.
